No, I'm not in mourning...

I just can't figure this darn blogger background thingy. So until I figure out how to make it all fit and have the time to actually spend laying it all out and matching the background color and changing the font colors and link colors and all that stuff then it'll just have to stay black... (Sorry Sarah! Maybe you could figure it out for me. Since you don't already have 6 kids, 2 cats and a kitten to worry about ;)! lol

Holy CALF!!

A few months ago I joined a local gym and have been dedicated in going and getting some major cardio and aerobic workouts. It's been great! and I've LOVED the challenges that I've pushed on my body. However I've been unsatisfied with the results of weight loss. I told this to a friend who told me to start first with weight training then move on to cardio. I thought... "Alright, cool... I'll try anything" (My weight training knowledge is very limited. lol. I just copy everyone else around me.) So I come into the gym and catch this friend weight training and join her in her regimen copying her as we both sweat it out. As we get close the the end of our session she shows me some calf strengthening exercises where you stand on the end of a step and bring yourself on your tip toes then down fully pushing your heel towards the floor... completing this action S L O W L Y up then down. Try that 45 X's, I dare you. Then bring your toes together on the step, with your heals apart and try that same extension 45 X's. Then put your toes at the far ends on the step and bring your heals together and try that extension the same amount of times. I tried it. My calves were hurting by the end of the series but I stretched them out, completed the rest of the exercises then called it a day. That next morning I COULD NOT STAND, let alone move my legs. The PAIN was worst then shin splines! I was fooled into thinking that because I jog everyday that my calves could endure the 'little' workout. WRONG. I hadn't ever pushed them this way. I tore the calfe muscles causing the most excruciating pain that Motrin couldn't kill. I know that it's good for some tearing during weight training so your body can build new muscle tissue, but what the heck was I thinking??? My calves are already freakin' humongous! I hope they aren't going to form into some kind of "HULK" calves. Hah! I'm getting a good laugh now that the pain has begun to subside but I think I'll be sticking to other weight training exercises and leave the step/ calve extentions for everyone else... for now.
